Los Roques Accommodation Posada Arrecife Sustainability

Claudia and Maurizio

Claudia came to Los Roques six years ago as a tourist. After seeing and feeling the Los Roques beaches, she fell in love with this 'paradise,' as she calls it, and decided to stay. She is Italian, and she traded in her hobby of playing tennis for snorkeling, diving, reading and listening to music at Los Roques.

As she studied tourism in Italy, she was prepared to run the posada with her friend Maurizio. They share a passion for meeting people from other countries and making their stays as pleasant as possible.

Maurizio was one of the first Italian immigrants in Los Roques. He came here twenty-three years ago and also fell in love with the blue water of Los Roques. He loves animals and he knows the importance of explaining to guests about taking care of the coral reefs, not eating lobsters out of season, supporting Biological Station and putting the garbage in its correct place.

They have an unusual pet named Maya. She is a spectacular Guacamaya, and is so close to Maurizio that people say she is his girlfriend. She will eat his sandwich and his soup and plays with his keys. A secret tip of Posada Arrecife is that famous people from Venezuela and abroad come to this house to be pampered and enjoy marvelous vacations. If you need more information to come here, please feel free to contact them.

Detailed description of the Caring for the Destination Initiative:

At Posada Arrecife they have installed energy-saving bulbs and stress to guests about using water and electricity as little as possible in an effort to minimize their environmental footprint. They classify the garbage in glass, plastic and organic trash.

The staff talks to guests about taking care of the coral reefs and not eating lobster out of season to protect the biodiversity of the region.

The owners also support the Biological Station of Los Roques and collaborate with the school and the town in September when the celebration of La Virgen del Valle is coming.
